How to make a movie poll in Claude
Ask Claude to find films and start a vote. It hands back a link for your group and a private link for you.

Movie Night Polls has a connector for Claude. Tell Claude what kind of movie night you're planning, and it finds films, checks the shortlist with you, and creates a poll. Your group votes from a link on the website. Nobody needs an account, including you.
Add Movie Night Polls to Claude
In Claude, go to Customize > Connectors and click Add custom connector. Name it Movie Night Polls and enter this server URL: https://www.movienightpolls.com/api/mcp. If Claude asks how to authenticate, choose No sign-in. Then click Add.
This works on every Claude plan. The Free plan allows one custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner adds it under Organization settings > Connectors, and members then connect from Customize > Connectors.
In Claude Code, run: claude mcp add --transport http movie-night-polls https://www.movienightpolls.com/api/mcp
Start a poll
In a chat, click + and choose Connectors to check that Movie Night Polls is on. Then ask for what you want. For example:
"Find three sci-fi movies on Netflix and make a poll for Friday's movie night."
"We loved Knives Out. Find a few films like it and start a vote for the group."
"Make a movie poll with Alien, The Thing and Arrival, and let everyone vote for two."
Claude asks your permission before it uses the connector, unless you've chosen Always allow. A poll holds 2 to 6 films, and each person can vote for 1 to 3 of them.
Share the right link
Claude gives you two links. The share link is for your group: anyone with it can vote, and each film shows its poster and trailer. Polls made this way are unlisted, so they don't appear on the Browse page.
The host link is for you. Open it to see the votes so far and to close voting. Keep it private, because anyone with it can close the poll. We store it only in a form we can't read back, so we can't recover it if it's lost.
Check the votes and close the poll
Paste your host link into the chat and ask "How's the vote going?" or "Close the poll and tell me the winner." You can also open the host link and do both on the website. Ties become co-winners, and everyone with the share link sees the result.
If you want the poll in your own list, open the host link and choose Save this poll to my account. It then appears under My Polls. This is optional, and the poll works the same either way.
What the connector does
It has four tools. Find movies looks up a title, finds films like one you name, or lists popular films by genre and streaming service. Get poll results reads the current votes. Both only read data. Create a movie poll makes a new poll, and Close a poll ends voting and picks the winner.
Film details come from TMDB. The connector receives only what each tool needs, such as film titles, genres and the poll's title. It never sees your conversation or your Claude account. See section 7 of the privacy policy for details.
If something doesn't work
Claude doesn't use the connector: check it's on under + > Connectors, or mention Movie Night Polls in your request.
The connector shows Connect or Reconnect: remove it under Customize > Connectors and add it again with the exact URL above.
Claude says "That doesn't look like a host link": paste the full host link, the one that ends in ?host=, not the share link.
A film is missing: try its original title, or add the year.
