Creating a Poll from Scratch
Create a fully custom movie night poll by choosing your own title, description, and movie options.
Getting started
Navigate to Create from the header and click New poll from scratch. This takes you to the poll editor where you can build your poll step by step.
Adding a title
Enter a title for your poll in the large text field at the top. The title is required and will be displayed prominently on your poll page. Pick something fun and descriptive to get people excited about voting.
Adding a description
Optionally add a description below the title to give voters more context about your movie night. For example, you could mention the date, theme, or any rules for the night.
Searching for movies
Click the Add Movie card in the gallery to open the movie search. Start typing a movie name and results will appear as you type. Select a movie from the dropdown, then click Add to Poll to add it to your poll. Repeat for each movie you want to include.
Reordering and removing movies
Drag and drop movie cards to reorder them. On desktop, click and drag any card. On mobile, use the grip handle at the top of each card. Click the X on any card to remove it from your poll.
Launching your poll
When you're happy with your poll, click Launch Poll. A confirmation dialog will appear where you can configure your poll settings before publishing:
- Visibility — Public (listed in All Polls) or Unlisted (accessible by URL only, Pro feature).
- Votes per submission — How many movies each voter can select (1 to 4).
- Anonymous mode — Hide your name as the poll creator (Pro feature).
- Dark mode — Display the poll with a dark theme (Pro feature).
Click Launch Poll in the dialog to publish. You will see a success message with a link to view your live poll and a link to your My Polls page where you can manage it.
Free plan limits
Free users can create up to 5 polls per month with up to 6 movie options per poll. If you add more than 6 movies, only the first 6 will be published. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited polls and movie options.
