Movie Night Polls for Telegram

Run /newpoll, drop in a few film titles, post the poll right in your group. Posters. Inline-keyboard votes. Live tallies. Winner announcement. No tab-switching.

Hosting polls requires a Pro account. Anyone in the group can vote — no account needed.

How it works

  1. 1

    Add the bot

Tap Add to a Telegram group and pick your group. Or open a DM with the bot first to try it out before adding it anywhere.

  2. 2

    Link your account

In the bot's DM, send /link. The bot replies with a one-time URL — sign in to Movie Night Polls and you're set.

  3. 3

    Run /newpoll

In your group (or the bot's DM), send /newpoll. The bot walks you through title → description → film list → options in your DM, then posts the finished poll into the group.

  4. 4

    Vote and close

Anyone in the group taps a movie button to vote. When you're ready, /close picks one of your open polls and announces the winner with a celebration message.

What the bot does

  • Movie posters in chat

Polls render as a photo message with a server-rendered poster strip — voters can see what they're picking before they tap.

  • Inline-keyboard voting

One button per movie, right under the poster strip. Tap to vote, the message updates in place. No web round-trip.

  • Wizard creation in DM

/newpoll in a group routes the back-and-forth into your DM so the setup chatter never clutters the group — only the finished poll posts there.

  • Tie-breaker UI

When a poll closes in a tie, the bot replies (only to you) with buttons: crown one movie, or accept the tie.

  • Share into other chats

Use /share to repost a poll into another group or DM. Closing once announces the result everywhere it was posted.

  • Same polls on the web

Every poll lives at movienightpolls.com too — manage, share, and revisit on any device.

FAQ

Do voters need a Movie Night Polls account?
No. Anyone in the group can tap a vote button — voting is free for everyone. Only the person hosting the poll (running /newpoll) needs to link a Pro account.
What does Pro cost?
$9.99/month (or $99/year). Pro unlocks unlimited polls, private (unlisted) polls, dark mode, and chat-platform integrations like this Telegram bot.
Can I host more than one poll at a time?
Yes. Each /newpoll starts a new poll. Use /close to wrap one up — the picker shows all your open polls.
What happens if a poll ties?
After /close, the bot replies (only to you, in DM) with buttons: one per tied movie plus an Accept tie button. Tap to crown a winner or post the tie publicly.
Why does /newpoll work in DM but redirect from groups?
Telegram doesn't have private messages within a group, so a back-and-forth wizard would clutter the chat for everyone. Running /newpoll in a group sends you a DM to set the poll up — only the finished poll lands back in the group.
Can the same poll live in multiple chats?
Yes — /share posts an existing poll into the current chat. Vote tallies stay in sync everywhere, and closing once announces the result in every chat the poll appears.
What data does the bot store?
Just the mapping between your Telegram user ID and your Movie Night Polls account, plus the polls you create. See our privacy policy for full details.
