Voting on a Poll
Voting on a movie night poll is simple. No account required.
Casting your vote
Open a poll link and you will see the movie options displayed as poster cards. Click on a movie to select it. Depending on the poll's settings, you may be able to select more than one movie. A counter will show how many votes you have remaining.
Once you have made your selection(s), click Submit Your Vote(s) to submit.
After voting
After a successful submission you will see a confirmation with an option to share the poll with friends. Vote counts update in real time for everyone viewing the poll.
Can I vote more than once?
Each person can submit one vote per poll per browser. A cookie is stored for 7 days to track your submission. If you try to vote again on the same poll from the same browser, you will see a message letting you know you have already voted.
Viewing results
Vote counts are visible on the poll page and update in real time as new votes come in. When the poll owner closes voting, the winner is announced with a confetti celebration and the final results are displayed.
Sharing a poll
Use the Share button on the poll page to copy the link or share it directly using your device's share menu. You can also share right after voting from the confirmation screen.
Voting from chat
If a poll was posted into Discord, Slack, or Telegram by the Movie Night Polls bot, you can vote directly on the message — no need to open the web page. Tap a movie button to cast your vote; tallies update in place. Votes across chat platforms and the web stay in sync, so the count you see is always the current truth. See the chat platforms overview for details.
Dark mode polls
Some polls are displayed in dark mode. This is a visual preference set by the poll creator and does not affect how voting works.
